our pastor

The Elder James L. Lee is a native of Dothan, Alabama. He is the second oldest child of the late Deacon John Lee, Jr. and Mother Johnnie Mae Lee. His mother taught him the way of holiness as a child. Elder Lee is a graduate of Carver High School (Dothan, Alabama), and Tuskegee University, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Industrial Technology. He also attended the Master Of Business Administration program of the North Carolina Central University. He completed numerous distance learning courses in Biblical Studies from Moody Bible Institute (Chicago, Illinois), and several continuing education courses provided by the Church Of God In Christ.

Elder James Lee had the distinction of serving his country in the United States Army achieving the rank of Captain. He has administrative and business insights and experience gained from 13 years as an executive of the General Telephone & Electric Corporation. His corporate experience continues to serve as a vital asset to the South Carolina Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction, and the churches he pastors locally and supports abroad.

Through the providence of God, Elder James Lee was saved, sanctified, and filled with the Holy Spirit at a revival held at the Mason Temple Church Of God In Christ (Conway, South Carolina). Elder Lee acknowledged his call into ministry; and in 1982, he was appointed pastor of the Mason Temple Church Of God In Christ by the Episcopal decree of the late Right Reverend H. Jenkins Bell. In 1983, Elder Lee submitted to the will of God and by faith resigned from a job with a yearly income of $50,000 to pastor only 20 members. The Lord has rewarded Elder Lee’s faith and personal sacrifice by causing Mason Temple to grow from 20 adults to a typical Sunday Morning attendance of more than 500 worshipers. In fact, Elder Lee’s pastoral excellence is demonstrated by the fact that having a diverse membership, Mason Temple Church is one of the larger congregations in Conway, SC.

In addition to sharing his life as the husband of a gifted educator Lady Robbie Lee, he is also the proud father of three: District Missionary Shannon Felder, Elder Gary Lee and Aaron Lee. He is also the grandfather of seven. In addition to pastoring the Mason Temple Church, Elder Lee's wisdom and distinction as an effective pastor caused the Right Reverend Johnnie J. Johnson, South Carolina Jurisdictional Prelate him to appoint him to his second pastorate, Catoe Chapel Church Of God In Christ. Once again Elder Lee's pastoral and administrative abilities were confirmed. Under his pastoral administration, a small and divided rural congregation worshipping in an old wooden building grew to become one of the largest congregations in its community. Catoe Chapel Church of God In Christ constructed and presently worships in a new modern edifice.

Currently, Elder James Lee serves the Church of God In Christ, South Carolina Jurisdiction, as an Administrative Assistant to the Bishop in the area of Budget and Finances and a member of the Executive and Ordination boards. Elder James Lee is indeed a man of vision, principle, wisdom, and integrity. His ministry has traveled the length and breadth of the United States and several foreign countries. Elder James L. Lee is a committed and anointed servant leader in the Kingdom of God.
