Let's Build

Feb 1, 2026    Pastor Gary Lee

This powerful message centers on Nehemiah chapter 2, verse 17, challenging us with a simple yet profound call: 'Let's build.' We discover that our calling doesn't begin with a strategic plan or a polished presentation—it begins with a burden. Nehemiah wept over Jerusalem's broken walls before he ever lifted a stone, reminding us that God grips our hearts before He uses our hands. In our post-modern age where talent is often exalted above character, we're confronted with an uncomfortable truth: How can we remain so calm when people are dying, when young lives are being lost, when darkness surrounds us? The absence of burden in our lives should trouble us. Nehemiah teaches us that vision disconnected from reality isn't vision at all—it's mere imagination. Before we can build anything meaningful, we must honestly assess what's really going on, naming the distress we're in. The broken walls of Jerusalem represent our own lives today: we're living under financial stress, family stress, emotional stress, and faith fatigue. Many of us aren't weak—we've simply been exposed and vulnerable for too long. But here's the hope: when Nehemiah finally gathered the people, he didn't shame them or rush to solutions. He acknowledged their shared pain and said, 'Come, let us build.' In just 52 days, what had been broken for decades was rebuilt. Why? Because community accelerates what isolation delays. When we stop spectating and start participating, when we each build our section of the wall, miraculous things happen. This isn't about one gifted leader—it's about all of us doing something, anything, to advance God's kingdom.
